What is a PAC?
In a nutshell, PACs, or political action committees, are organizations that pool campaign contributions from its members to support or oppose candidates, ballot initiatives or legislation. PACs represent one way a corporation can bypass laws that prohibit it from directly giving to a candidate. It is prohibited in Texas for a corporation or a union organization to directly give to a candidate. Both can give to a PAC, but how the money is subject to laws more strict than individual donor contributions.
